I am sports artist Monty Sheldon and throughout 2009 I have put up for auction my very first line of one-of-one, finished-penciled, sketch cards - Sheldon's Sketch Card Champions. It is the very first 1/1 sequentially numbered sports sketch card set in the hobby and consists of 250 cards. This set was a labor of love for me as I tried to make it the very best of the year, printed or otherwise. History will tell as to how it will compare to the other 2009 sets. I wish to thank everyone again who bid on these auctions this year. The 2010 sketch card set will start up later in January in conjunction with the release of the 2009 Topps National Chicle football card set, of which I have painted 27 cards. More details to follow in the near future. Each card measures 2" X 3 5/8" and is fully penciled with a black ink border. Also, each card is signed and dated on the back - the date indicates the day I finished the drawing. All cards are numbered in the order of finish amongst the other sketch cards in this historical set. With the long history of ACEO artist sketch cards, I thought it was time for me to take a crack at it and add them to my already well established line of one-of-one, hand-painted sports cards and baseballs. With my hand-painted cards currently selling for $250.00 - $750.00 apiece and baseballs each selling for $1675.00 +, these sketch cards could be a shrewd investment for the lucky collector. This S.S.C.C. set/art project will be a nice accompaniment to the hobby's very first all hand-painted 1/1 card set I produced in conjunction with Helmar Brewing from 2006-09.
